I have been backing the Holland and Belgium bid ever since it was announced that your great country would be in the running for the tournament. I may live in the UK but ive supported the Oranje ever since i was a little boy in primary school (i actually used to have a small boys 'holland' shirt with 'Bergkamp' on the back :mrgreen:

).

I was wondering what all of you in the Netherlands think about this bid? Do you want the World Cup? Would it be good for Holland? Do you think you will get it?

Personally i can see why most people are writing off this particular bid. England, Spain and Russia are all european powerhouses who could generate billions of pounds to host the cup but i cant see why Holland couldnt host the tournament. If you ask me the English bid is completely unrealistic. They plan to give Plymouth FC a new stadium of 40,000 seats when they cannot sell out their current stadium of just over 10,000! Add to the fact that we are billions of pounds in debt and this idea of hosting the world cup is just total stupidity. Spain and Portugal seem to be trying to buy the world cup with Qatar and to be honest who wants to have a world cup in Lisbon? Russia is just to cold and bare, travelling miles to each game isnt a good thought!

Ive looked at the stadium designs for Holland and Belgium and they look spectacular. Especially the new Kuip and the big stadium in Brussels. I also saw an artists impression of a revamped Amsterdam Arena <img src='smilies/icon_biggrin.gif' />

. If Holland and Belgium get the 2018 world cup ill be overjoyed, you can bet that ill be there on opening and closing night + everything in between!
